About Swoop

We are a global community of over 100 adventure travel enthusiasts - ex-guides, avid travellers, and those with an adventurous spirit - spanning five continents.  Since 2010, we’ve helped more than 15,000 people experience the trip of a lifetime in Antarctica, Patagonia or the Arctic.  Our success is rooted in our intimate knowledge of these incredible regions, our deep care for their preservation, our commitment, as a B Corp, to doing what’s right for people and the planet and, above all, our connectedness as a global team.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Product Owner to lead the strategy and development of Swoop’s customer-facing websites and platforms. You will play a key role in elevating the digital experience for our adventurous customers, ensuring our online platforms are not only functional but exceptional in every sense—from UX/UI design to seamless user journeys.

Working closely with our Head of Marketing, General Managers, and our Tech Team, you will own the product roadmap, driving forward website replatforming, customer journey enhancements, and integrate the latest innovations in technology. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of a significant digital transformation within a dynamic and mission-driven travel company.

Key responsibilities

  • Full Product Ownership: Drive the entire product lifecycle, including user-centered design, stakeholder collaboration, and iterative development, to deliver cohesive and valuable products that meet business goals and user needs.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: This role requires the ability to build strong, trust-based relationships quickly and confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels.  You must be comfortable delivering challenging information and navigating difficult conversations with high-level stakeholders, ensuring clarity and professionalism.  It’s essential to effectively articulate and align on strategic objectives, gather input from other teams and translate these into actionable website improvements.  You will also be responsible for clearly communicating the product vision and roadmap to drive alignment and success across all teams.

  • Relationship Management: Take full ownership of relationships with external suppliers and our internal tech team, ensuring effective collaboration and follow-through.  Proactively manage and maintain these relationships to guarantee timely, high-quality delivery as a key member of our Scrum team.

  • Drive Agile Product Development: Own the product backlog by defining user stories, prioritizing features based on business goals and user needs. Support Agile ceremonies (e.g. sprint planning, backlog refinement, and reviews)

  • Innovation: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in UX/UI and DXP, bringing new ideas to enhance experiences for both external customers and partners, as well as internal teams.

About you - Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Proven Track Record in Product Ownership: Experience as a SaaS Website Product Owner or similar role, managing customer-facing platforms or digital products.

  • Strategic and Tactical Thinking: A strategic thinker who can translate business goals into actionable improvements and is equally comfortable getting hands-on with details.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and with external partners.

  • Project Management: Strong project management capabilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Agile Experience: Strong background in working within an agile Scrum team, with familiarity in modern web development practices and content management systems (CMS).

  • User Story Definition: Proficiency in user story definition and mapping workshops, as well as producing finished user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Complex Problem Solving: Ability to take on complex challenges, understand requirements, evaluate and develop solutions, produce wireframes, and effectively collaborate with technical teams.

  • Design UX/UI: Demonstrated success in creating exceptional UX/UI experiences.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Experience in A/B testing, web analytics, and making informed decisions based on data.

  • Workflow and Prototyping Skills: Skilled in creating workflows and low-fidelity wireframes, using no-code prototyping tools to bring concepts to life.

  • Travel Industry Background (Desirable): Previous experience in a travel brand environment, particularly with API integrations with travel partners, is highly desirable.
